Sustainability in action

Better guest experiences. Better choices

Great hospitality and sound environmental decisions can go hand in hand.

At Zummo London, we believe some of the most useful sustainability improvements come from changing the way something is done, rather than trying to compensate for its impact afterwards.

For juice service, that means replacing packaged juice with freshly squeezed juice … creating a more engaging guest experience while removing unnecessary packaging at source.

Depending on the venue, this can include:

Working alongside recognised sustainability frameworks, we help hospitality businesses understand the measurable impact of replacing packaged juice with freshly squeezed juice.

  • Litres of bottled juice replaced
  • PET bottles avoided
  • Kilograms of plastic eliminated at source
  • Packaging reduction across the operation.

Remove waste at source, not offset it

Freshly squeezed orange juice provides a more considered alternative to traditional bottled juice.

Rather than relying on bottles, caps and transport packaging before it ever reaches the guest, fresh juice is prepared on demand using whole fruit.

The result is simple:

✓ No bottles. No caps. No unnecessary packaging.

✓ Just fresh fruit, prepared when it is needed.

✓ Less waste created. Less waste to manage.

CASE STUDY

What happens when bottled juice is replaced at source?

This real-world example shows the results when a simple change in juice service removes packaging from the start:

A 70-room five-star London hotel. The numbers:

  • 5,651 litres of juice served annually
  • 196 kilograms of plastic waste eliminated at source (no bottles, caps, packaging)
  • Cost comparable to serving inferior bottled juice
  • Zero long-term contracts or capital investment

This is not a projection. This is what happened when a London luxury hotel switched from bottled to freshly squeezed. The environmental impact is measurable and permanent. The commercial impact is neutral or favourable. The guest experience improved visibly.

Sustainability, with evidence behind it

• EcoVadis Platinum

From measurement to action

Measurement is only useful if it informs what happens next.

We are building our environmental approach around understanding our impacts, identifying practical opportunities to reduce them and tracking the difference over time.

For our hospitality customers, that means moving beyond broad environmental objectives towards clearer evidence of what is changing and what that change means.

A fresh touch

Zummo is now included within Groupe SEB’s environmental scope, bringing our environmental management and measurement within the Group’s established framework, including ISO 14001 environmental management, audits and ongoing assessment of environmental impacts.

Zummo has also obtained an environmental-footprint certificate from Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, providing a recognised basis for understanding our footprint and identifying opportunities for improvement.
